It is our hope that all students will find a sport or other activity here at Heath that will excite them about exercising and staying active as well as increasing their school spirit and desire to improve their academics, attendance, and behavior to remain eligible for participation.
We offer a variety of sports within the middle and K-8 schools in Greeley School District 6. While we want to win and develop a win-seeking attitude amongst our students, we place a great emphasis on character development and having fun! I have heard many excuses for not playing sports and the most frequent one is, "I'm just not good enough."
Our response to this story comes from the story of Michael Jordan who was cut from his high school basketball team his junior year. At 5'11'', there was a 6'8" player who out played him. Instead of pouting or giving up on sports, Michael Jordan used this event to inspire him throughout his college and NBA years eventually becoming a member of the NBA Hall of Fame and, arguably, the best basketball player in the history of the NBA. There are many more success stories.
As a former coach of various sports, a great mentality is important to the success of student athletes. Attitude is key in any sport. 90% of any sport is mental and 10% physical. It is important to understand that we work with our athletes to build a successful mentality through the use of sports to help create a successful future for all athletes.
All registration will be done online this year instead of using paper registration forms. You can come in for the district's physical form as we will still need that, but everything else will be done online (CLICK HERE).
